HTTI has made impressive gains in TVET skills training in Hirshabelle state as well as entire Southern part of Somalia.

The Institute commenced with a few TVET course, and has now more than 15 craft and short courses cutting across TVET, engineering, science and technology, ICT, liberal arts amongst other courses.

Starting with a skeleton staff, HTTI has now a total of 18 teaching staff and 8 non-teaching staff. The teaching staff have at the very least full trade certification while the academic course is offered mostly by individuals with at least a masters degree or higher.

A fully-fledged Research department has been created headed by a well-qualified and experienced research specialist. The Research head is a PHD holder and the department has a total of 3 PHD holders. The Research wing has made tremendous achievements including:

• Designing, and leading a case study research project of the Ministry of Education, FGS
• Undertook a Labour market assessment (LMA) for Save the Children Somalia to establish most marketable skills in Hirshabelle
• Undertook a value chain analysis and market development in milk industry to inform market development of the product within the region
• The research unit has been contracted by various government Ministries/Departments and agencies (MDAs) to design, supervise or conduct a total of 12 research studies (FSL assessment, MIC study, nutritional assessment, rapid results assessment in recent flooding incidents of 2023)
• HTTI is becoming a reputable agency in conducting research, independent third-party monitoring and evaluation assignments. The reasons for this growing trust are varied and compelling. We have a reliable, committed team of highly qualified staff (local and expatriate) , we are able to reach every part of Somalia because of having rapport with diverse stakeholders and 3 we deliver on time and as per expectations.

The research unit is nurturing high research skills to all trainees and it is becoming mandatory for diploma students to undertake a research project as practicum work in partial fulfillment of the course.
